Most Popular Types Of Massage

Swedish Massage Generally considered to be the classic massage, Swedish massage was actually invented by a Dutch man. It involves different kinds of touch:

  • kneading
  • rolling,
  • vibration tapping
  • percussive movements

The massage increases blood circulation, sending more oxygen to your muscles, helping them, and you, relax. Swedish massage is the main technique I use for massage then I go deeper on the knots in the body as needed.  Swedish massage will also helps hasten healing of injuries, reduce swelling and help dissolve deep scar tissue adhesions.

Hot Stone Massage Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client's body of to maximize the therapeutic benefit. The stones used are typically river rocks or other very smooth-surfaced stones made of basalt. These stones are heated in sanitized water before use. The high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage. Hot stone massages are beneficial on both physical and psychological levels.

Always check with your doctor before getting a hot stone massage individuals with certain conditions--including pregnant women and people with high blood pressure--are advised to avoid this type of therapy.

Deep Tissue Massage deep tissue massage takes traditional massage techniques one step further, getting into the deep tissue areas of your body.
Once the skin and muscles are relaxed using classic massage, the therapist goes deeper into the tissues that join your body parts together, the underlying musculature and connective tissue called fascia.
Deep tissue massage is an excellent remedy for chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation, and reduction of pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. One often feels sore for a day or two after this massage therapy.

Trigger Point Therapy Trigger points can occur as a result of muscle trauma (from car accidents, falls, sports- and work-related injuries, etc.), muscle strain from repetitive movements at work or play, postural strain from standing or sitting improperly for long periods at the computer, emotional stress, anxiety, allergies, and inflammation. A single event can initiate a trigger point, and you can suffer the effects for the rest of your life if that trigger point is not addressed properly.

A hallmark of trigger points is something called "referred" pain. This means that trigger points typically send their pain to some other place in the body, which is why conventional treatments for pain so often fail. Many health care practitioners wrongly assume that the problem is located where the pain is and therefore fail to assess the body correctly to find the cause of your pain.

Chair Massage Only available for special events. This technique helps to reduce tension in the shoulders and neck. For stress relief.
